First Steps

OK. So you want to see what RU has for you. We aim to have something for everyone. So you need to select the bits you want.
Some sections are easy to adapt. For example, a section written for couples on talking more, might give you ideas for talking with friends or at work. So don't give up too easily if you don't find something you like. And feedback to us using the Contact Us page so we can improve RU in future
Whatever your interest RU is here to invite you to try out the things for yourself. If you go for help, these ideas are what might be suggested. We try to make it easy for you, but you need to explore RU to find something that fits for you. You may find enough on RU. Or RU might simply help you realise and think about where you go for services to help you.
- Is your interest personal or professional?
- What kind of relationship are you exploring - couple, family, friends, work?
- Are you ready to flourish, concerned about troubles, or wanting help talking?

So RU provides something for everyone. If you want to try self-help, or if you are troubled and looking for services (but don't understand the range of different kinds of services or practically where to find them); or if you are alone and are looking for relationships, or you are a professional wanting to practically find or easily understand the different kinds of relationship help services and what they work best with, and then more fully explored research or literature about the many different approaches.
There are huge amounts of academic literature on defining and philosophising about what a relationship is. Here we assume everyone has some idea of their own having lived more or less in relationships all their life. |

If you like questionnaires, SCORE yourself first. The three headings in the SCORE questionnaire match RU's Flourish, Talking and Trouble .

More about finding your way on RU
Use the Menu headings on the left to click direct to what you want to see inside. Everyone knows about relationships but it can still help to start by being reminded of what we all know. When relationships aren't going well, what often helps best is to get the positives and resilience going again. So we begin with ordinary ideas and ways to flourish, before looking at troubles, self help and getting help for them.
You may be interested in particular kinds of relationships - family relations (couples, parenting, siblings, extended family), friends or community, or work relationships. Many of the resources here can apply to any relationships, but we will try to point you to the ones that are more specific.
Professionals may go to the pages that say more about help.
